IPAA ACT is pleased to host a Secretary Series address by Dr Gordon de Brouwer PSM FIPAA, newly appointed Australian Public Service Commissioner. Dr de Brouwer commenced the role on 11 May 2023, following the retirement of Peter Woolcott AO. With his decades of experience in public sector policy and ample senior roles across the APS and academia, he will continue to lead public sector reform, building a stronger APS. Previously, he was Secretary for Public Sector Reform, where he led the APS Reform agenda with skill and commitment.
In his first speech as Australian Public Service Commissioner, Dr Gordon de Brouwer will discuss his vision for the Australian Public Service and priorities in further strengthening the service with respect to integrity and capability. Dr de Brouwer will reflect on the progress of public sector reform and how it will evolve over the next 12 months and beyond. This will include a look at the proposed changes to the Public Service Act 1999, that will help the APS better serve the government, the parliament, and the Australian community into the future and lock in key APS Reform initiatives that will build trust and integrity in the APS, and embed positive changes to capability, performance and transparency.
